On a day marked by inspiration and profound learning, the Nuggets Of Life Mentorship Session under the banner of #YouthConnect took a significant stride in empowering the youth towards a healthier and more conscious future. Hosted at the esteemed Kenyatta University School of Law Parklands Campus, the event served as a guiding light of hope and transformation for the young individuals.
As the afternoon sun graced the venue, attendees were greeted with the seamless registration process, followed by a lunch that offered not just sustenance but also a moment for everyone to mingle, setting the tone for the impactful session ahead. The air was filled with anticipation, excitement, and the collective desire to learn and grow.
The session officially began with introductions from the distinguished school committee, including the dean, registrar, and student leaders, led by the school president, Kelvin Kamau. Their presence not only elevated the session but also symbolized the school's commitment to nurturing holistic development among its students.
The atmosphere was electric with anticipation as Rosemary Mburu approached the podium, ready to illuminate minds and hearts. Introduced by the two masterful mc’s, Hamisi and Peggy, Rosemary commanded the stage with a presence that resonated with reverence. A venerated figure in mentorship, Rosemary introduced "Nuggets Of Life," a program dedicated to forging leaders who are not only competent but also compassionate and visionary. As a mentor within this transformative initiative, her insights were not just spoken but felt, deeply stirring the audience. Rosemary's words were not merely an introduction; they were a clarion call to action, inspiring every individual present to embark on a journey of self-improvement and societal contribution.
Adding a vibrant layer to the session, students took the stage to showcase their talents. At around 2:30 PM, the session took a deep dive into one of the most pressing issues affecting the youth today: drugs and substance abuse. Spearheaded by Kamau Mwangi, co-founder of My Afya Africa and former lecturer at Tangaza University, the focus was sharply on alcohol, tobacco, and marijuana. His insights, drawn from a rich background in both academia and real-world experiences, provided invaluable perspectives on combating these challenges.
Following the enlightening talk by Kamau Mwangi, the floor was opened for a Q&A session, allowing attendees to engage directly with the speaker. This interactive segment not only clarified doubts but also empowered the youth with knowledge and strategies to resist and overcome the allure of substance abuse. The session concluded with heartfelt closing remarks, encapsulating the day's learnings and encouraging attendees to carry forward the torch of knowledge and empowerment. A photo session followed, immortalizing the moments of unity, learning, and commitment to a healthier future. The NOL #YouthConnect Mentorship Session at Kenyatta University School of Parklands was more than just an event; it was a pivotal moment in the lives of many young individuals. As the attendees left the venue, they carried with them not just memories but a renewed sense of purpose and determination to contribute positively to their communities and beyond.
